IT expert doing a good job?
Is your I.T. Expert doing a good Job?
Australia has many talented & ethical technicians but there are also those who know more about over-charging than fixing your network. We help you rate your I.T. expert.
Does your computer technician exhibit any of the following behaviours?
1. Arrives late or not at all, without bothering to call you?
2. Heads straight to the computer and starts making changes?
3. Doesn't explain what they've changed or uses too much jargon?
4. Installs 'free' software from plain gold CDs (e.g. with 'Microsoft Office' written on them in texta)?
5. Takes 4 hours to do what you thought should be a 30 minute job?
6. Walks out before you discover that you now can't print, access the Internet or email?
7. Sends you an invoice that is unexpectedly 5 times bigger than what you thought it would be?
If you answered 'yes' to any of the above then at best they are suffering an acute case of 'customer service phobia' and at the very worst they are playing off the industry's dirty little trick - the more problems you have and the longer they take to fix, the more money your computer technician makes.
The job of a technician is not easy. Things don't always go according to plan with technology and getting to the root cause of a problem can be as hard as diagnosing a rare disease. With this in mind, we suggest you look for a computer technician who:
- Asks about how your business operates before recommending any technology purchases.
- Sets out your options in plain language.
- Asks if you have a recently tested backup of your important files.
- Lets you know what progress they are making, or why things seem to be taking so long.
- Suggests what measures you can implement to prevent the problem from reoccurring in the future.
- Only installs genuine licensed software.
- Keeps you informed of the time spent and any equipments costs, so that the bill is cleared with you before they leave.
- Ensures that email, printing and the Internet are all working before they leave.
- Is genuinely pleasant to deal with!
